The Southern Alps, of which the Pay du Buech is a part, lie between  the rugged climate of the High Alps and the mild climate of the Provence.

   In the heart of the "Parc Naturel des Barronies",  Etoile is an hours' drive from the ski resort  " Devoluy" and two hours from the mediterranian coast.

Orpierre, 7 km before Etoile, is a world famous rock-climbing spot.  Because of its very favourable climate, it is open throughout the year.

   In the village with its medieval allies there are a swimming pool and a supermarket.

    From Etoile there are many possibilities for walking:  in an unspoilt nature one can discover a countryside which has been continually cultivated and shaped since ancient times.
